UPHOLD THE NDDC ACT: IT IS TURN OF DELTA STATE TO PRODUCE THE MANAGING DIRECTOR/CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF THE NIGER DELTA DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION

The Niger Delta Peoples Assembly as a body advocating for the just and equalitable Niger Delta region that upholds the rights of her people and the respective constituent States that make the region have deemed it highly imperative to speak up against the injustice that has been perpetrated at the Niger Delta Development Commission with respect to the leadership/management structure of the Commission.

The Niger Delta Development Commission in congruence with the NDDC establishment Act has it clearly spelt out that headship of the critical intervention Agency vis-a-vis the position of Managing Director should be on rotational basis between the states that make up the Niger Delta region to ensure that every oil producing state is given a significant level of equal belonging for the overall good of the region.

It is however saddening that Bayelsa state seems to have manipulated the system unjustly and unfairly by having the Managing Director slot severally whilst other states have not had their fair share of leadership.

It is on record that premised on the principle of rotation, Delta State is expected to be at the helm of leadership with a Delta State indigene as Managing Director of the Commission. The slot being occupied by Dr. Samuel Ogbuku rightly belongs to Delta state. In the light of the fact that this appointment was made in error and in contravention of the NDDC establishment Act, we herein call for the immediate removal of Dr. Ogbuku while an indigene of Delta State should be appointed instead.
